Connie Thomson

MisCon 24 Panel Volunteer

Co-owner, editor, writer/designer, layout specialist, and booth babe for 4 Winds Fantasy Gaming. Also, maker of the World's Finest Dicebags. logo

By day, Connie Thomson is a mild-mannered shoe salesgirl. But when night falls, she takes her turn at the helm of 4 Winds Fantasy Gaming, where her official title is “co-owner”, but her duties include everything from editing and layout to bookkeeping and booth babe. She has been a co-writer or designer on nearly all of 4 Winds’ products, and was a lead author on the company’s popular equipment book, Luven Lightfinger’s Gear and Treasure Shop. Simply put, she’s Girl Friday.

Connie also worked as a staff writer for Geek’s Dream Girl ( from the summer of 2010 to the end of 2011, writing 81 weekly columns on RPGs and other elements of geek life. She is well-known for her What’s Love Got to do with It series on romance in RPGs, and her article Needles of Knitting +5: Using the Craft Skill to its Best Advantage was the most popular article on the site in 2010.

To say Connie’s current career is a complete switch from her previous one as a meteorologist would be an understatement. She worked for the federal government as a weather forecaster for 10 years before a series of health issues caused her to lose that job. Ultimately, it was the best thing that ever could have happened, because now she’s healthy and doing things she truly loves (though she hopes she won’t have to sell shoes on the side forever).

A proud farm girl from tiny McClusky, North Dakota, Connie has made her home in Great Falls, Montana since 2004. In her spare time (what little there is of it), Connie obviously loves to play RPGs, as well as read fantasy and sci-fi novels and watch far too much TV. She is also a craft diva extraordinaire, and would gladly crochet and embroider geeky crafts (especially dice bags!) until her fingers fell off, if only she had the time.
