We have many systems represented each year at MisCon. Here is a schedule of games being run at MisCon 28, sorted by the Game System. This list is updated on the first Saturday of each month, until March, when it will be updated every Saturday.

If you want to run a game at MisCon 28, please email the Game Chair to get your game scheduled.

BattleTech

BattleTech is a science fiction tactical wargame in which players maneuver giant fighting robots ("BattleMechs," or "'Mechs") against each other (or vehicles and/or infantry). The game system includes details such as varying weapon ranges, heat generation, and discrete hit locations (torso, arms, legs, etc.).

Call of Cthulhu (BRP)

WELCOME TO CALL OF CTHULHU! If you have ever been enthralled by a ghost story or spellbound at a horror movie, you are in for a treat. Part the veil that separates frail humanity from the terror that lurks beyond space and time. Investigate forgotten ruins, haunted woods, and nameless menaces.

Call of Cthulhu is a horror roleplaying game using the Basic Roleplaying system and based upon the writings of Howard Phillips Lovecraft and a few others. Lovecraft wrote during the 1920s and 1930s, and he became a cult figure before dying in 1937. Since then his stature as an author has grown, and now he is generally recognized as the major American horror-story writer of the twentieth century.

New Orleans, 1935. Whoever called this “the Big Easy” sure got that one wrong. Things are tough all over. Honest work is hard to find, and even dishonest jobs are getting scarce. Deadlands Noir is a pen-and-paper roleplaying game set in the world of Pinnacle Entertainment’s award-winning Deadlands universe. It includes new Edges, Hindrances, and powers, as well as new rules for handling detective work, the state of the Union and the CSA in the Depression-era, a complete Plot Point campaign, and of course, more monsters and ghouls than you can shake a smoking .45 automatic at.

Descent

Descent: Journeys in the Dark is a board game in which one player takes on the role of the treacherous overlord, and up to four other players take on the roles of courageous heroes. With danger lurking in every shadow, combat is a necessity. For such times, Descent: Journeys in the Dark (Second Edition) uses a unique dice-based system. Players build their dice pools according to their character's abilities and weapons, and each die in the pool contributes to an attack in different ways. Sword Land RPG schedule in the grid
The 13th Age

13th Age was designed to be familiar in terms of setting concepts to D&D players, so it is a class based game with the main rulebook containing standard D&D classes. It's also level based, with ten levels grouped into three tiers. Unlike most other d20 games, 13th Age was designed from the ground up to not use miniatures or a grid, and instead uses abstract distances and positioning. In order to speed up combat the Player Characters gain an escalating bonus to hit equal to the number of rounds that have passed.

The skills systems often associated with recent versions of Dungeons and Dragons have been replaced with backgrounds by 13th Age. Players are encouraged to create backstories for their characters that give them bonuses to actions in the game, often asking them to refer to a time in their fictional past when they have dealt with a similar obstacle and how they overcame it or what they learnt from the experience.

Other differences from standard d20 games include the backgrounds taking the place of most utility magic, weapon damage dice being determined by class (a feature shared with Dungeon World), spells that are only expended on bad rolls, and recoveries that resemble D&D 4e healing surges.

WARMACHINE is an intense miniature tabletop strategy game wherein rival factions clash on the battlefield using swords, guns, spells, and steampowered magical/mechanical constructs called warjacks. Each battlegroup consists of a number of these 'jacks and a warcaster who supports them with spell and steel of their own. The various factions bring their own unique weapons to bear- from the necromantic iron and bone nightmares of the Cryx empire, to the precision of the clockwork automatons of the Convergence of Cyriss- WARMACHINE is steam powered miniature combat at its finest!
