My name is John Dalmas, and I'm an author with 27 published novels and 3 collections to my credit. I am not the Raymond Chandler private eye of the same name.

Even as a child I intended to write books. I simply wasn't in a hurry. There were all those other things I wanted to do first, and over the years I kept adding to the list. So I didn't sit down to write my first novel until almost my forty-second birthday.

One day in 1968, I picked up what I soon decided was a really poor novel, and told myself "I can write better than that," then began to write The Yngling. The following March, John W. Campbell bought it for Analog....

About Brooke Stanley

Beth Stoops
Beth Stoops

Beth Stoops is "three feet tall and dresses kooky." There's mounting evidence she might not be human. Or even a she. But she's interesting to talk to, unintentionally funny, and can help your sewing go to the next level and beyond. If you are looking for her and don't see her, look down. If that doesn't work, carry around a cup of English Breakfast -- eventually she'll come out of hiding.

Robin Walker
Robin Walker

Robin learned how to draw while in the sciences because basic skills and high standards were rarely taken seriously in art schools, as is still the case today. Art is generally perceived by art schools and the public as therapy or a way to socialize while one's hands are moving. The art trends of the 20th century have been seldom more then the sanctification of the inane. Do get her started on this topic.
