MisCon 30 Panel Volunteer
Gene Mealey, also known in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) as Baron Antoine de Bueil of the Barony of Sentinels' Keep.
Gene Mealey was born in May of 1975 in Butte Montana. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Montana Tech in Butte. He is privileged to share his life with a loving wife, a beautiful daughter, another child on the way, and two very tiny though energetic Yorkshire Terriers named Merlin and Miracle. Since his early college days he has been fencing and has been actively learning and teaching the Art of Rapier for the past 16 years. He currently resides in Missoula Montana and when he's not selling heating equipment and working on computers he is teaching the Art of Rapier, shooting a bow, and encouraging people to explore the arts and technology of the Middle Ages and early Renaissance.
His persona (Baron Antoine de Bueil) lived at the latter half of the 16th century (1550-1600) and traveled from his birthplace in Bueil, France to Italy where he now makes his home. As an instructor in the ancient art of swordplay he specializes in Rapier. His interesting include swordplay (of course), good horses, and fine sweet wines. He dabbles in woodworking and at being a tailor. The physical sciences fascinate him, especially with regards to construction & warfare engineering. He is currently the standing Baron of Sentinels' Keep (Missoula, MT) in the Glorious Kingdom of Artemisia (Montana, Utah, and parts of Idaho/Wyoming). In the SCA he hold several awards: Gold Scarf of Artemisia, an Award of Arms, a Jewel of the Keep, and an Award of Vigilance.
