LAN at MisCon 23

LAN at MisCon 23

Postby Quasijoe » Sat Mar 14, 2009 5:36 am

If MisCon 23 is going to have a LAN people need to bring their computers.

Contact gamechair@miscon.org if you can bring a computer, or if your computer meets the specs below, or if you would just like to see a LAN at MisCon 23.

The specifications for computers needed for the LAN are:
Processor: MINIMUM 3GHz Single core (any dual core would do).
RAM: MINIMUM 2GB.
Video Card(s): MINIMUM nVidia GeForce 7800 or equivalent.
Operating System: MINIMUM Windows XP w/ SP2.

Please note that if you do bring your computer, you will need to consent to other people's use of the computer while you are gone.
The room will be monitored closely, and any ruffians seen messing around on the desktop will be promptly booted.
If any problems crop up, or if a game requires Administrator access, the owner of the PC will have to be available to either log-in as Admin to resolve the issue, or give Mike your password.

Bottom line: if you are not comfortable letting someone else use their PC, you need not apply.

I talked to Mike.

If, like me, you have no idea what the specs on your computer are, a computer that can run modern MMOs should work for the LAN.

If you're not sure, you can contact gamechair@miscon.org.

Is there still going to be some LAN gaming?

I'm willing to bring a couple of gaming rigs for you to use. Now that the transportation is lined up and we have room :) Should be rolling into town around noon on Friday -- give or take.

Rig 1:
AMD 5400+ BE (dual core)
4 GB RAM
260 GTX 768mb
Vista 64 Ultimate

Rig 2:
AMD 5000+ BE (dual core)
4 GB RAM
8800GT 512MB
Vista 64 Ultimate

I have a pair of 20" WS monitors and headphones for each. Let me know if you would like me to bring them. I need to set up a second account on Rig 2 since I just built it back up.

Unfortunately you are the first to volunteer computers.

We have canceled the LAN for this year.

We do want LAN to return to MisCon.

Would you be willing to send your contact info to gamechare@miscon.org?

I would forward it to Mike Moceri, so that you can coordinate for next year.

Thanks,
