Rebekah Leib is a medievalist & historical re-creationist specializing in the Norse Viking era & Bronze Age Scythian cultures.

Rebekah Leib is a medievalist & historical re-creationist specializing in the Norse culture and Viking era well as Bronze Age Scythian cultures. She has far too many sheep, goats & other livestock running amok on her homestead & is a spinner, weaver, dyer, feltmaker & obnoxiously enthusiastic textiles geek.

When not shoveling manure, fixing fences or shouting at escaped sheep, she also enjoys target and combat archery, arrow-making, sewing linen & wool garments, making glass beads with her lampworking torch, and spending quality time with her horses.

Moderator: James Hayes; Panelists: Rebekah Leib

Many are the trees within the Dark Forest and many their gifts. We'll explore the many uses of one tree in this workshop, the Birch. Edible, medicinal and practical gifts come from this tree. One of the things we'll be doing is making a primitive lantern using fuel that comes from this tree, and carved from something that commonly grows on this tree. Can you guess what it is? Come by and find out!

  • Break Sat 10:50 - Sat 2:00
  • panel Sat 2:00 - 2:50 PM, Mushrooms of the Dark Forest, Patio Tent
    Panelists: Rebekah Leib

Many fungi grow in the Dark Forest; some are delightfully and perennially edible, and some "are only edible once". Come and learn from a forager the basics of finding and identifying wild mushrooms so that you might enjoy the fruits of the Dark Forest in safety and knowledge.
