Missoula's Science Fiction & Fantasy Convention

MisCon 32: May 25 - 28, 2018 Missoula, Montana

Katie Rhodes

MisCon 32 Panel Volunteer

I have been cosplaying since I was 8 years old and started making my own cosplays when I was 10. I started DigiKat Cosplay in 2007 after the birth of my first daughter, mostly teaching kids how to make their own cosplays. My family moved to Missoula in 2012 where I opened as a licensed costume studio. I work in commissions as well as teaching.

Unless you are very lucky, the average pattern doesnít provide a quick and easy fit, or that screen-accurate look. Most people find they need to fit the pattern more closely to their body for a polished look and itís almost always necessary to adjust patterns with custom pieces to get the right look for a character. Starting with measurements, this panel will teach you how to do basic fitting and modifications to a store-bought paper pattern.

  • Break Sun 10:50 - Mon 10:00
  • panel Mon 10:00 - 10:50 AM, Captain Cheaptastic, Ballroom B

Raid the pantry, clean out the garage, and dredge up the basement. Learn how to turn out a costume using basic materials and tools you probably have at home, or can easily find for minimal cost.
