Mitchel Coombs is an award-winning broadcast meteorologist, storm chaser and nature photographer based in Missoula, Montana. He was named the 2025 Montana Weathercaster of the Year. While his day job is in television, off camera, he’s a dedicated cosplayer, crafting detailed fur and foam builds. He is the reigning MisCon Master’s Division Cosplay Contest champion.

Learn how temperature and humidity affect adhesives and paints, and hear survival stories for heat and rain. We’ll also discuss leveraging natural elements—like sun angles, clouds, and snow—for dynamic photography. Share your own weather horror stories, ask questions, and learn to make the elements work for your next build/photoshoot.
