Theresa Miller

MisCon 40 Attending Professional

Theresa Miller spent most of her childhood in an imaginary world full of magic, fairies, secret gardens and fantastical feasts. Now she plants her own gardens, cooks her own feasts, searches the mountains for signs of fairies, and writes about magic. She has attended Miscon since 2011 and participated in the writers workshop for eight years. She won an honorable mention in the Writers of the Future contest with her short story ’Westward to the Wastelands,’ and a silver honorable mention with a story she co-wrote with Eric Stever, ’The Norka.’
She has written articles about rural living for Countryside, Goat Journal, and Backyard Chickens. Her first novel is in timeout (in a trunk in a cabin in the mountains) where it has been left to think about its many failings. She turned her attention to small town cozy mysteries with magic. Her first published novel, Mushrooms, Magic, and Murder came out in April 2023

We'll provide lists of question prompts to help break the ice (though you can ask whatever you want), split everyone into pairs, and run quick 3 to 5-minute rounds before rotating to a new conversation partner. Come swap stories, talk art, movies, anime, pop culture, and make a new connection.

  Part of what defines a culture is its system of shared beliefs--not only religious, but also secular. Designing and understanding the belief systems of your characters adds depth to the world in which they live, so let's discuss how to do so.

Our panelists will indicate when, had the submission come across their desk, they'd stop reading and tell us why. Submissions will be anonymous and will not be returned.
