Missoula's Science Fiction & Fantasy Convention

MisCon 36: Carnival of Wonders, May 27 - 30, 2022 Missoula, Montana

Avery Clarke

MisCon 36 Attending Professional

Avery Clarke has been managing the operational side of monetized LARP for just under half a decade. From onsite setbuilding, to costuming, to coaching NPCs in the field. If it has to do with running a LARP, and it happens onsite, Avery has done that. And, in doing so, cut many new roads for LGBTQ+ youth who have come to define much of the design space around the LARP hobby.

Have you ever played a character in an RPG who looks or acts nothing like you do every other day of the week? In doing so, have you ever found something familiar or true in the character that later, you'd see in yourself? Roleplay and identity are intermingled, and the experiences and stories we weave inform the lives we lead beyond the fourth wall. Come discuss that process with longtime storytellers Shan and Avery, who themselves are trans and have opinions on the subject.
