Robert J. Sawyer
MisCon 37 Guest of Honor

Robert J. Sawyer is a Member of The Order of Canada, the highest honor bestowed by the Canadian government, and he is one of only eight writers ever to win all three of the world's top awards for best science-fiction novel of the year: the Nebula Award (which he won in 1996 for THE TERMINAL EXPERIMENT), the John W. Campbell Memorial Award (which he won in 2006 for MINDSCAN), and the Hugo Award (which he won in 2003 for HOMINIDS) -- and he has twelve additional Hugo nominations to his credit (eight for Best Novel, three in short-fiction categories, and one for Best Dramatic Presentation).
Rob has also won the Robert A. Heinlein Award, the Edward E. Smith Memorial Award ("the Skylark"), and the Hal Clement Award; the Audio Publishers Association's Audie Award for Best SF/F Audiobook of the year (for CALCULATING GOD); the top SF awards in France, China, Japan (three times), and Spain (three times); and a record-setting sixteen Canadian Science Fiction and Fantasy Awards ("Auroras"). In addition, he's received the Crime Writers of Canada's Arthur Ellis Award, the SCIENCE FICTION CHRONICLE Reader Award, and ANALOG SCIENCE FICTION AND FACT magazine's Analytical Laboratory Award, all for Best Short Story of the Year.
Rob's novel FLASHFORWARD was the basis for the ABC TV series of the same name and he was a scriptwriter for that program. He also scripted the two-part finale for the popular web series STAR TREK CONTINUES. The most recent of his twenty-five bestselling novels are QUANTUM NIGHT, THE OPPENHEIMER ALTERNATIVE, and THE DOWNLOADED.
Rob will be an Author Guest of Honor at the 81st World Science Fiction Convention (the 2023 Worldcon), to be held in Chengdu, China; he has previously been guest of honor, special guest, or toastmaster at over 100 other science-fiction conventions worldwide. Website: https://sfwriter.com
