Join us for an informal meet & greet/hangout with a bunch of MisCon's writers and editors. This isn't a formal panel with panelists up on the stage discussing a topic. Instead, everyone will grab chairs in the pavilion, and the moderator will get things going. Then we'll open things up so small group hangouts can happen until the end of the hour. This is your chance to informally meet a bunch of the people you'll see on panels all weekend.

  • panel Fri 4:00 - 4:50 PM, The Writing Process, Monster Tent (2)
Panelists: Thomas Gondolfi, Michael Hodges, Kevin Kauffmann, Gwendolyn Nix, Dave Smeds

Let's discuss the writing process. It's different for everyone . . . isn't it? Doesn't everyone get up at 6am, shower, and get right to work? Or are we all night owls who fit in words after everyone else goes to bed? Our panelists will discuss what works for them and what doesn't.

  • Break Fri 4:50 - Sat 1:00
  • panel Sat 1:00 - 1:50 PM, Spotlight: Wallace, Smeds, Seattle WorldCon, Spotlight
Panelists: Kathy Bond (Seattle WorldCon), Dave Smeds, Hunter Kay Wallace

Meet a few of our authors, get signatures, and see what they're up to these days.

  • Break Sat 1:50 - Sun 11:00
  • panel Sun 11:00 - 11:50 AM, Help! My Books Aren't Selling, Nameless Ballroom
    Panelists: Joseph Malik, Dave Smeds

This panel will help pinpoint why your books are lying around like beached whales. Its focus will be on the big three: cover, blurb, sample. All must be spot on and genre specific, otherwise no one will even click through to your "look inside" sample. This is a tough, competitive business. Not a place to reinvent the wheel.

  • Break Sun 11:50 - Mon Noon
  • panel Mon Noon - 12:50 PM, The Blended Subgenre, Monster Tent (2)
Moderator: Eva Elasigue; Panelists: David Boop, Eva Elasigue, Rhiannon Held, Dave Smeds

Fantasy Sci-Fi - SF&F as BFFs. Some stories have both! Why and how? What's great, what's new, and what's here.

  • panel Mon 1:00 - 1:50 PM, Epic or Not?, The Hollow
Panelists: C E Chester, Sanan Kolva, Dave Smeds

What makes stories epic and not merely regular? Does it matter?
