My name is Andy Neyens. I have a sake brewery in Ballard, Washington, USA. Like many stories and endeavours in life, this one started with love.

Once upon a time, in the slight past, there was an amazing young woman traveling from Japan. She visited for a week or so, enjoying the best of Seattle, summer.
The Story of Tahoma Fuji Sake
Eventually our lives merged. We ended up in Toyama, Japan. Her hometown and a dreams reflection of my childhood memories of midwestern winters mixed with woodblock prints from the old Japanese masters.

After living in Toyama for a while, we got married and I was able to find work in a small sake brewery. Fumigiku Shuzo.

It was as wonderful an experience as I have had in life, but also one filled with numerous challenges both physical and mental. I grew in mind and spirit. Unfortunately after a while the Toji (brewmaster) was let go due to financial constraints on the brewery.
When my teacher, friend, and mentor of sake was gone, the pull of the Pacific Northwest started to tug at both mine and my wifes hearts a bit. Yet the seeds of sake had been sown and a vision was softly planted in my brain. It still remains. . .
The move was made. Ballard, my old stomping grounds, was the target. My wife and I both went to work on our crafts. I found work in some beer breweries and made 6 years of Seattle suds - you’re welcome, Seattle. :)
Yet all the while we were building knowledge, experience, and getting equipment here and there. Eventually we found our home. As life is unpredictable, the plan has been modified more than a few times, but the essence of our goal has remained. Now with two kids and a full sake brewery built in the backyard, we are ready to present to the world, the one and only. . .
