Thursday to Sunday
For MisCon 40: the Upside Down, we’re trying something new.
Thursday will be a social day. We will open to the public at 4pm, although the Campground and Registration for badge pickup will open at 10am. We’re planning for it to be a day of final setup and to provide early birds a low-key opportunity to meet up with old friends and make new ones before the convention really kicks off Friday morning.
Anyone who wants to volunteer can show up any time Thursday and we’ll find something for you to do, but most things will kick off that afternoon: Merchants, the Art Gallery, and Gaming will open at 4pm.
We’re not going to run our standard panels/programming Thursday so we can give people a chance to hang out and socialize without feeling the need to rush off to learn about editing or cryptids or to get to the Costume Contest or a scheduled D&D game on time.
Instead, we’ll run light programming and social events like Cosplay Tea, Film Festival Best of Years Past, book signings, and artist meetups. We’ll run some of our usual evening events, like the nightly Tent Party in the Campground, music in the Cantina, and open gaming until late into the night. Check out the schedule throughout the spring to watch things shape up.
Most (if not all) of our guests of honor and panelists will be around by Thursday evening, so it’ll be a great opportunity to meet them before things get busy Friday morning.
Registration (and everything else) opens at 10am Friday, Opening Ceremonies will kick things off at noon, and we’ll run games, discussion panels, activities, magic shows, etc from 10am until 2am Friday, Saturday, and we’ll wrap things up Sunday at 6pm. If you want to stick around for the dead dog party after that, you’re welcome to do so.
