MisCon Frequently Asked Questions
Game Submissions are now open!!
Tuesday, February 11:
There are changes to how we are doing submissions this year with the new website layout. Submit your games here! Remember getting your games on the schedule before the cut-off of June 1st allows you to earn Cthulu Cash for running your games!!
Is there a hotel on site or nearby?
There is not a hotel on-site, but there are many hotels throughout Missoula. Adventurers can also camp in our campground (details to come soon).
Is the Fairgrounds dingy and does it stink like farm animals?
Luckily, no. The Missoula County Fairgrounds has been recently remodeled and upgraded. The historic buildings have been modernized, many have air conditioning/heat, and there’s power, water all over the place. The sidewalks are all smooth, the whole place is ADA compliant (yay!), the Commercial building has an elevator, etc. The Butterfly House is next door, as is the new Rocky Mountain gardens.
Who are MisCon 39's GoHs?
We’re still working on GoH details and will announce them soon.
How many people attend MisCon?
Last year was one of our biggest years with 2,200 attendees/staff/panelists. Our goal is to grow some and maintain our "small con" feel. We can spread out more at the fairgrounds than we could downtown, and should be able to accomodate more like-minded attendees without ruining that.
Is the date change permanent?
Yes it is. The fairgrounds is the only space big enought to be able to accomodate MisCon, and it’s got limited availability. This year it’s happening over the summer solstice weekend, and it could shift a bit next year, but it will be in June from now on.
Will MisCon help mobility impaired attendees?
We will have staff with golf carts on hand ready to help attendees get across the fairgrounds when necessary. We’ll do our best to help people get around (we’re clustering many events together so people won’t need to dash around trying to get to different fun things.
What are MisCon's Hours?
MisCon Hours:
Friday: Noon to around 2am
Saturday: 10am to around 2am
Sunday: 10am to around 2am
Monday: 10am to 4pm
Here's a More Detailed Overview:
Thursday is our setup day.
Campers can check in that morning, although we will be setting up the campground and don't have a definite time you can get set up at your site.
Merchants will be able to set up indoor booths that morning no later than 11am.
Everyone is welcome to come check out the fairgrounds on Thursday, and if you want to pitch in and help with setup, we'd love the help.
Pre-Registered attendees can pick up badges Thursday evening at our Registration Booth in the Commercial Building. We're not yet sure when this will be for MisCon 39, but it's always for a few hours in the evening. Once we know, we will update this.
Friday:
Registration officially opens at noon on Friday, although we almost always open before that. Before Reg opens, attendees are welcome to wander around the fairgrounds/buildings, to check things out, and to see people.
Panels (and everything else, really) officially start at 2pm. Merchants will be open for business, Gaming will be set up and running in various locations across the grounds, the Cantina and other hangout areas will be open and ready for people, the Art Gallery will be lit and set, etc.
Daytime programming, indoor merchants, and the Art Gallery all close at 7pm, just as Opening Ceremonies begin. Our GoHs and many panelists attend the OC, so it's usually a good way to see/meet people.
Evening programming takes over at 8pm, including parties (alcoholic and not), shows, music events, night gaming (gaming never stops throughout the convention), and more.
On Saturday everything opens at 10am: panels, gaming, the Art Gallery, merchants,
Sunday has the same 10am to 2am schedule as Saturday with the same kinds of things happening throughout the day. The Art Auction happens Sunday evening, as does Nerd Prom.
Monday starts at 10am. It's our quietest day, since everyone is tired after 3 days of fun, but we've got all the usual stuff going on until Closing Ceremonies, which start at 3pm. Most of the GoHs are still with us for Closing.
How do I get a camp spot?
All camping information will appear on our website soon.
Is MisCon going to become a Renaissance Fair?
No. We’re going to continue doing what we always do, just in a new location that will allow us to do more, both indoors and outside, including some things Renfaires do. But MisCon is remaining MisCon.
How do I get tickets?
Full weekend MisCon passes are available at www.miscon.org/registration/order-passes.php
Day passes are only available on that day during MisCon and are not available for pre-sale.
Where can I park?
There are hundreds of parking lots surrounding the fairgrounds. We're working on a parking map to make it clear for attendees.
Is there a hotel shuttle?
We’re working on shuttle details, but we plan to arrange shuttles as necessary. More details to come.
Can I bring my RV?
Yes, you can as long as you have a reservation and it fits inside your allotted camp space
